Welcome I’m Erica SalzmanA Licensed Educational Psychologist and Nationally Certified School Psychologist based in Los Angeles. I am dedicated to understanding and supporting diverse learners through unlocking every individual’s unique learning possibilities.
My journey has been in the public school setting, where I’ve worked at both the district level and charter school setting since 2014. My experience spans across age groups, from preschool to high school, and includes three years at a nonpublic school catering to students with Autism. Throughout, I’ve provided individual and group counseling and conducted comprehensive assessments for students with a spectrum of conditions, from ADHD, Autism, dyslexia, and learning disabilities to emotional disturbance and gifted abilities. Through detailed cognitive and social-emotional assessments, I uncover individual learning nuances to tailor interventions and accommodations, which can servce to amplify each person’s potential.
I am passionate about helping individuals succeed in their educational environment. My extensive experience equips me with a comprehensive understanding of the IEP process, best practices, parent rights, and the components of a thorough assessment. I empower parents with knowledge and support, enabling them to advocate confidently for their student’s needs within the public and private school system.
Collaboration is central to my approach. Working closely with parents, educators, and administrators, I strive for a collective understanding of strengths and challenges, forming the basis for personalized, effective support.
Outside of work, I cherish moments in the kitchen experimenting with recipes, quality time with family, exploring new destinations through travel, hiking, and immersing myself in a good book.

I’m Erica Salzman, a Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP #4465), Nationally Certified School Psychologist, and Certified Executive Function Coach based in Los Angeles. I founded The Exceptional Learner to celebrate neurodiversity and honor the many ways children think and learn, using a strength-based approach that highlights what makes each child unique.
With more than twelve years of experience, I specialize in supporting twice-exceptional learners as well as students with ADHD, dyslexia, Autism, and other learning differences. My strength-based approach allows me to see the whole child, focusing not only on areas of need but also on what excites them and where their talents lie. I am dedicated to providing thorough and comprehensive assessments that dig deep into how a child learns, processes information, and what they are drawn to and love. My reports include tailored and individualized recommendations that address areas of challenge while building on each child’s unique abilities and interests, so they can reach their highest potential. When children are recognized for what makes them exceptional, they become more motivated, confident, and open to learning, setting the stage for meaningful progress.
I’m also passionate about executive function coaching, where I help students develop practical tools for planning, managing responsibilities, and reaching their goals. I believe these are skills that can be learned and strengthened, even if they don’t come naturally, and I love supporting students as they discover new strategies that work for them.
Supporting students’ success in their educational environment is always at the heart of what I do, with a focus on positivity and growth. Years of experience have provided me with a thorough understanding of the IEP and 504-plan process, best practices, parent rights, and the components of effective assessment. Empowering parents with clear insights and actionable strategies allows them to advocate confidently for their child’s needs.
