I offer a complimentary 20 minute consultation conducted over the phone. We will discuss presenting concerns, the reasons for seeking an assessment, and your goals. I will provide a clear outline of the costs involved, and an informed consent form must be signed before an assessment is scheduled.
Assessments can be conducted either in person or virtually.
In-Person Assessments: Testing sessions are typically conducted in my Pasadena office. For an additional fee, in person sessions can also be arranged at the student’s home if preferred.
Virtual Assessments: Remote assessments follow the same comprehensive process as in person evaluations but are conducted entirely via a secure telehealth platform. This option is available for any student located in California.
For both modalities, a comprehensive assessment generally requires three testing sessions of approximately two hours each. However, the number and length of sessions may vary depending on the student’s age, the areas being assessed, the examinee’s pace, and the number of breaks needed.
During this stage, I will gather parent and teacher input using questionnaires and standardized rating scales, which you will be responsible for having completed and returned.
For in-person assessments, school observations may be conducted depending on the reasons for the assessment. These are subject to the rules, limitations, and approval of the student’s attending school.
For virtual assessments, school observations are not conducted. Instead, behavioral data is gathered through clinical observations made during direct virtual testing, alongside the provided rating scales and interviews.
I will score all assessments and rating scales, combining this data with information gathered from interviews, observations, and record reviews. This culminates in a comprehensive assessment report that includes a clinical DSM-5 diagnosis and/or Special Education eligibility where relevant. You will receive a copy of the assessment report three days prior to the review meeting.
I will schedule a one hour virtual meeting to review the assessment outcomes and the comprehensive report. During this meeting, we will discuss my recommendations, next steps, and how to best support your child moving forward. It is often beneficial to include the student for part of this meeting so they can hear feedback directly and participate in the discussion. There will also be an opportunity to address any additional questions you may have.
